Step into a Hmong village nestled in the mountains outside of Luang Prabang. After being welcomed by your homestay family, you'll be guided through the community by Mr. Kua, one of the village chiefs. Spend the day learning about Hmong culture and village life: visit the shaman, try traditional instruments, and join an embroidery class led by the local Women's Union.
In the evening, share a dinner of traditional Lao and Hmong food around your hosts' table while learning a little of the local dialect. The next morning, hike with Kua through jungle trails to the breathtaking Kuang Si Falls for a well-earned swim.
Proceeds from this trip go directly toward building the new community center for the village.
Try a new form of elephant tourism that benefits the elephants and their caretakers alike. We'll begin in the hills outside of Chiang Mai at a hands-off elephant sanctuary. You'll wander forest trails with your guide as the elephants forage freely in their natural habitat. Here you'll also meet your host: Mr. Cherd, the head elephant caretaker of the sanctuary.
In the afternoon, walk with Cherd to his nearby village and settle into your homestay. Join Cherd and his wife Ki in preparing a traditional Thai-Karen dinner while learning about their lives and culture over shared stories. The next morning, hike to a hidden waterfall and take part in optional cooking and weaving classes before returning to Chiang Mai.
Discover the island of Koh Klang, where community, culture, and conservation come together. Stay at a cozy guesthouse run by locals Mat and Muna. Enjoy Muna's delicious home-cooked seafood and join Mat in learning about their inspiring work to restore the island's mangroves and wildlife populations.
